Savage Garden - Truly madly deeply

I'll be your dream

I'll be your wish

I'll be your fantasy

I'll be your hope

I'll be your love

Be everything that you need

I'll love you more with every breath

Truly, madly, deeply do

I will be strong

I will be faithful

'cause I'm counting on

A new beginning

A reason for living

A deeper meaning, yeah

I wanna stand with you on a mountain

I wanna bathe with you in the sea

I wanna lay like this forever

Until the sky falls down on me

And when the stars are shining brightly in the velvet sky,

I'll make a wish, send it to heaven then make you

want to cry

The tears of joy for all the pleasure in the certainty

That we're surrounded by the comfort and protection of

The highest power

In lonely hours

the tears devour you

I wanna stand with you on a mountain

I wanna bathe with you in the sea

I wanna lay like this forever

Until the sky falls down on me

Oh can you see it baby?

don't have to close your eyes

'Cause it's standing right before you

All that you need will surely come

hooohooo ye-eah

I'll be your dream

I'll be your wish

I'll be your fantasy

I'll be your hope

I'll be your love

Be everything that you need

I'll love you more with every breath

Truly, madly, deeply do

mmm, mmm,

I wanna stand with you on a mountain

I wanna bathe with you in the sea

I wanna lay like this forever

Until the sky falls down on me

I wanna stand with you on a mountain

I wanna bathe with you in the sea

and I want to live like this forever

Until the sky falls down over me

hooohoooo hoooooo ye-eah

oh oh

loo loo loo doo hoo yeah, hoo yeah dooo

loo loo hoo doo doo yeah, doo hoo-nooo

Savage Garden - I Want You

Anytime I need to see your face
I just close my eyes
And I am taken to a place where your crystal mind and
Magenta feelings take up shelter in the base of my spine
Sweet like a chicka cherry cola
I don't need to try to explain;
I just hold on tight
And If it happens again, I might move so slightly
To the arms and the lips and the face of the human cannonball
That I need to, I want to
Come Stand a little bit closer
Breathe in and get a bit higher
You'll never know what hit you
When I get to you
Ooh, I want you
I don't know if I need you
But, ooh, I'd die to find out
Ooh, I want you
I don't know if I need you
But, ooh I'd die to find out
I'm the kind of person who endorses a deep commitment
Getting comfy getting perfect is what I live for
But a look, and then a smell of perfume
It's like I'm down on the floor
And I Don't know what I'm in for
Conversation has a time and place
In the interaction of a lover and a mate,
But the time of talking, using symbols, using words
Can be likened to a deep sea diver who is swimming with a raincoat
Come stand a little bit closer
Breathe in and get a bit higher
You'll never know what hit you
When I get to you
Ooh, I want you
I don't know if I need you
But, ooh, I'd die to find out
Ooh, I want you
I don't know if I need you
But, ooh I'd die to find out
Oooooh yeah, oooh yeah
Anytime I need to see your face
I just close my eyes
And I am taken to a place where your crystal mind and
Magenta feelings take up shelter in the base of my spine
Sweet like a chicka cherry cola
I don't need to try to explain;
I just hold on tight
And If it happens again, I might move so slightly
To the arms and the lips and the face of the human cannonball
That I need to, I want to
Ooh, I want you
I don't know if I need you
But, ooh, I'd die to find out
Ooh, I want you
I don't know if I need you
But, ooh I'd die to find out
So can we find out?
Ooh, I want you
I don't know if I need you
But, ooh, I'd die to find out
Ooh, I want you
I don't know if I need you
But, ooh I'd die to find out
Ooh, I want you
I don't know if I need you
But, ooh, I'd die to find out (I got to find out)
Ooh, I want you
I don't know if I need you (ooh can we find out)
But, ooh I'd die to find out

Savage garden - The animal song

When superstars and cannonballs are running through your head
the television freak show cops and robbers everywhere
Subway makes me nervous, people pushing me too far
I've got to break away
So take my hand now
Cause I want to live like animals
Careless and free like animals
I want to live
I want to run through the jungle
the wind in my hair and the sand at my feet
I've been having difficulties keeping to myself
Feelings and emotions better left up on the shelf
Animals and children tell the truth, they never lie
Which one is more human
There's a thought, now you decide
Compassion in the jungle
Compassion in your hands
Would you like to make a run for it
Would you like to take my hand
Cause I want to live like animals
Careless and free like animals
I want to live
I want to run through the jungle
the wind in my hair and the sand at my feet
Sometimes this life can get you down
It's so confusing
There's so many rules to follow
And I feel it
'Cause I just run away in my mind
When Superstars and cannonballs are running through your head
Television freak show cops and robbers everywhere
Animals and children tell the truth, they never lie
Which one is more human
There's a thought, now you decide
Compassion in the jungle
Compassion in your hands
Would you like to make a run for it
Would you like to take my hand
Cause I want to live like animals
Careless and free like animals
I want to live
I want to run through the jungle
With the wind in my hair and the sand at my feet (repeat X2)

Savage Garden- Affirmation

I believe the sun should never set upon an argument
I believe we place our happiness in other people's hands
I believe that junk food tastes so good because it's bad for you
I believe your parents did the best job they knew how to do
I believe that beauty magazines promote low self esteem
I believe I'm loved when I'm completely by myself alone
I believe in Karma what you give is what you get returned
I believe you can't appreciate real love 'til you've been burned
I believe the grass is no more greener on the other side
I believe you don't know what you've got until you say goodbye
I believe you can't control or choose your sexuality
I believe that trust is more important than monogamy
I believe your most attractive features are your heart and soul
I believe that family is worth more than money or gold
I believe the struggle for financial freedom is unfair
I believe the only ones who disagree are millionaires
I believe in Karma what you give is what you get returned
I believe you can't appreciate real love 'til you've been burned
I believe the grass is no more greener on the other side
I believe you don't know what you've got until you say goodbye
I believe forgiveness is the key to your unhappiness
I believe that wedded bliss negates the need to be undressed
I believe that God does not endorse tv evangelists
I believe in love surviving death into eternity
I believe in Karma what you give is what you get returned
I believe you can't appreciate real love 'til you've been burned
I believe the grass is no more greener on the other side
I believe you don't know what you've got until you say goodbye(Repeat 2)
Until you say goodbye
Oh no no no no no ( Repeats itself many times fading)

Savage Garden - Crash And Burn

When you feel all alone
And the world has turned its back on you
Give me a moment please to tame your wild wild heart
I know you feel like the walls are closing in on you
It's hard to find relief and people can be so cold
When darkness is upon your door
And you feel that you can't take anymore
Let me be the one you call
If you jump I'll break your fall
Lift you up and fly away with you into the night
If you need to fall apart
I can mend a broken heart
If you need to crash then crash and burn
You're not alone
When you feel all alone
And a loyal friend is hard to find
You're caught in a one way street
With the monsters in your head
When hopes and dreams are far away and
You feel like you can't face the day
Let me be the one you call
If you jump I'll break your fall
Lift you up and fly away with you into the night
If you need to fall apart
I can mend a broken heart
If you need to crash then crash and burn
You're not alone
Because there has always been heartache and pain
And when it's over you'll breathe again
You'll breathe again
When you feel all alone
And the world has turned its back on you
Give me a moment please
To tame your wild wild heart
Let me be the one you call
If you jump I'll break your fall
Lift you up and fly away with you into the night
If you need to fall apart
I can mend a broken heart
If you need to crash then crash and burn
You're not alone

"I Knew I Loved You" is a single by Savage Garden from their album Affirmation. It was their second number one after "Truly Madly Deeply" and reached the top spot of Billboard Hot 100 on the week dated January 29, 2000, staying there for three consecutive weeks. After its third week at number one, the single was knocked off by Mariah Carey's "Thank God I Found You" featuring Joe and 98 Degrees and then returned to the top again the following week for its fourth and final week at the top.

Music video
The music video was filmed with director Kevin Bray in August 1999 on a New York City Subway set that had previously been used for Seinfeld.[1]

It features the band in a subway station with Hayes playing out a romantic plot on the subway with Kirsten Dunst as the object of his affections. The video shows the band alone in a carriage and also full of people. Then the train seems to stop and the power goes out, a red back up light comes on and everyone in the carriage joins hand. Hayes who is sitting opposite Dunst reaches out his hands to her. As they touch, we are shown the couple walking through a park bathed in sunlight, laughing and holding hands. Then its back to reality as the train lights come back on and comes to the next station. Both Hayes and Dunst get up to leave, smile at each other as they exit the carriage and part ways. The video ends with Savage Garden performing by themselves in the carriage and subway.

Daniel Jones (musician)

Daniel Jones (born 22 July 1973 in Southend-on-Sea, Essex, England) is a musician, songwriter, and record producer. He is best known for his part in the hugely popular Australian pop duo Savage Garden, whose international hit singles included the songs "I Want You", "To the Moon and Back", "Truly Madly Deeply", "I Knew I Loved You", and "Crash and Burn". Since Savage Garden, Jones has launched his own production company Meridien Musik and recording studio Level 7 Studios and now works with various new, young Australian artists.

Personal life
Daniel was born in England, but his family moved to Australia when he was less than a year old. The Jones family settled down in Brisbane, Australia where Daniel grew up as the youngest of three boys. Even as a child, music was a big part of Daniel's life, with his brothers, Oliver Jones and Jonathan Lee Jones, also possessing musical talents of their own. Daniel's most used nicknames are Dan, Waggin, Jonesy, and Caniel. His mother gave him the nickname Caniel after a misspelling in a school paper after Daniel scored a goal in a game of soccer.

Daniel dropped out of Year 10 at Shailer Park State High School to pursue a musical career. Daniel suffers from gastroesophageal reflux disease.[1]

On 30 April 2000, when Jones was 26, he met his future wife Kathleen de Leon, a member of successful children's group Hi-5, at the 42nd Annual TV Week Logie Awards. After more than three years together, Kathleen organised a 1970s-themed party for Daniel's 30th birthday. Kathleen got the biggest surprise when Jones professed his love for her and proposed in front of more than a hundred people, including his parents, at the GPO Bar in Brisbane.[2]

On 9 October 2005, Jones married de Leon at Avica Weddings and Resort on the Gold Coast in Queensland. The big day turned out to be an Oriental-meets-Balinese themed fairytale wedding filled with special touches. Jones also used his musical talents to write a song called "Love Is Enough" for his bride.[3]

On 25 February 2006, after the couple returned home from their honeymoon, Kathleen confirmed that she was four months pregnant.[4] The couple's first child, daughter Mikayla de Leon Jones, was born on 26 July 2006.[5]

The family has two Golden Retrievers; Texas and Jackson.

Musical career

Early career
When Jones was about 18 years old he was in a band called Red Edge with his brother and some friends but the band needed a singer. Daniel Jones put an advertisement in the local Brisbane music paper Time Off, looking for a suitable singer. Darren Hayes was one of the people showing up at the audition and he got the job. After being in the band for some time, Hayes got tired of performing other people's songs and he was ready to quit Red Edge and since Daniel Jones wanted to create his own music, he made the difficult decision of leaving the band together with Darren Hayes. This marked the beginning of Savage Garden.

Savage Garden

The other half of the pair, Darren Hayes, performed all of the vocals whilst Jones mostly provided instrumental backing. However, Jones' voice is heard in a few demo songs – such as "Aubergine Girl" – and in the countdown in "To the Moon and Back". Hayes and Jones wrote and performed all of their own music and had a global hit with "Truly Madly Deeply" in 1998 and "I Knew I Loved You" in 2000. Originally, both men travelled the world to promote their first album as well as perform singles. As travel strain and other issues began to take their toll on Daniel, he decided that he was not comfortable with the press junket circuits and the intense scrutiny from fans and media that came with them. When Darren agreed to take on the lion's share of the promotional duties for the band, Daniel took charge of rehearsals of the backing band that Savage Garden took with them on tour, as well as setting up the musical arrangements for the tour. The duo eventually split up in 2001.

After Savage Garden
In 2001, Daniel began assisting an Australian band named Aneiki, the group consisting of Jennifer Waite and Grant Wallis. They were the first band to be signed to the music label Daniel had started named Meridien Musik. Daniel knew Jennifer as one of the backing vocalists who had travelled with Savage Garden during the Future of Earthly Delites tour for the first, self-titled Savage Garden album. Daniel helped produce their first album Words in Place of Objects and co-wrote four album tracks with Jennifer; "Dearest", "She Says", "Saving Grace", "Feel This Fool", and the B-side "Sugarlust".

In 2002, Daniel worked with another Australian duo called Bachelor Girl to co-write a song called "Falling" for their second album Dysfunctional. In 2004, Daniel helped produce for Australian pop-rock musician Julie Strickland and the Australian act The Wish (Peter Freebairn and Bill Kio) for their respective debut albums. And in 2005, Daniel worked with yet more Australians: Tori Horgan (on her debut album) and Paul Black. Daniel continued to demonstrate his interest in discovering new talent, and producing that talent with his new state-of-the-art Meridien Musik Studio, which he built himself.

In late 2005, Jones produced a series of EPs for Quiksilver's fledgling label, Pavilion Musik. Daniel recorded material with Sean Sennett, The Eight Colour, Moonjuice and Josh Boots.

In May 2006, it was announced that Daniel had purchased the legendary recording complex located at 301 Castlereagh Street, Sydney. This landmark recording studio was purchased from Tom Misner who owns the global SAE organisation and Studios 301. Throughout its long history, the studio was also owned by the EMI Group. The studio was purchased to start Level 7 Studios and to continue Meridien Musik in a new location. Daniel was also rumoured to be participating in a season of Australian Idol as resident producer.

Today, Daniel Jones is working on his record label and is living in Sydney, Australia.

Music career

1993–2001: Savage Garden
Main article: Savage Garden
In 1993, Hayes answered an advertisement in a magazine placed by Daniel Jones for a lead singer for a band called Red Edge. Hayes was successful despite his voice breaking in the audition. The covers band broke up in 1994 and Hayes formed a partnership with Jones, which was initially going to be called Crush. However, there was another band in the UK which had the rights to the name so the pair called themselves Savage Garden, after a phrase used by Anne Rice to describe the world through the eyes of the main character in her novel The Vampire Lestat.

Savage Garden started recording their debut album in 1995 with producer Charles Fisher. Their first single "I Want You" released in 1996 was the best selling single by an Australian artist that year. The second single "To the Moon and Back" topped the Australian charts at the end of 1996. The third single "Truly Madly Deeply" was their second number one and was the best-selling Australian single of 1997. Their debut album, Savage Garden, was the best selling album in Australia during 1997 and the duo won ten ARIA awards.

Hayes moved to New York City to promote Savage Garden internationally while Daniel Jones stayed in Brisbane. The move proved to be successful with "Truly Madly Deeply" going to the top of the American charts in 1998. The Savage Garden album sold seven million copies in the US on the back of this success.

In New York City, Hayes wrote Affirmation. He had recently divorced his wife of several years. Parts of the album reflected the pain from the end of the relationship. Affirmation was released in 1999 and proved to be another hit with lead single "I Knew I Loved You" going to number one in the United States and the album selling six million copies by the end of 2000. The pair played the title track of the album at the closing ceremony of the 2000 Sydney Olympics.

Hayes moved to Sausalito, California in 2000. He became the public face of the duo doing most of the media. Hayes announced that Savage Garden had broken up in October 2001 during an off the record chat with an Australian journalist. When confronted with this information during the early morning hours, before an unrelated interview, Jones denied the break-up of the band. However, it appears that Jones did not believe the reporter was accurately quoting Hayes and denied what he thought was yet another breakup rumour. Still, the fact that Jones took a back seat in all promotional activities for Affirmation seems indicative that Jones was not content to remain within Savage Garden as it had operated in the past. Savage Garden had sold over 23 million albums by that stage.

The truth of the situation remained in the hands of the two members until an interview in a music publication in 2005 when John Woodruff confirmed that Daniel Jones had announced his intention of leaving Savage Garden prior to the promotion for Affirmation and he criticised the media for their treatment of Darren Hayes. They have never issued a united statement regarding the situation, yet still Darren Hayes has guaranteed that Savage Garden will "never by any chance" reunite.

2002–present: Solo career

2002: Spin

Hayes recorded his first solo album, Spin, which was released in 2002. The album was produced by Walter Afanasieff, the producer of Affirmation. Spin carried on in the same musical vein as Savage Garden, with a less soft rock sound and more edgy R&B vibe, although the first single "Insatiable" was a ballad, reaching Number 3 in Australia. Other singles "Strange Relationship", "Crush (1980 Me)" and "I Miss You" also performed well in charts. The album reached the Top 5 in Australia at Number 3, and in the UK at Number 2. It also reached the top ten in Denmark, Sweden and Finland. In the United States, the album failed to make the same impact of Savage Garden's previous releases, reaching Number 35 on Billboard. It was later re-issued with a bonus disc consisting of some live and studio tracks.

2003–2004: The Tension and the Spark
Hayes spent two years working on his second solo album, The Tension and the Spark. Other than the track "I Forgive You", which was produced with Madonna collaborator Marius De Vries, the entire album was produced by Darren himself and Robert Conley (with whom he had previously toured and recorded "Crush (1980 Me)" for Spin). The album marked a bold change of direction from Hayes. Conley's production was almost entirely electronic, with acoustic instruments buried under walls of sequenced sounds. Although artistically this was a huge step forward and earned Hayes the strongest praise of his career, it seemed to alienate a large portion of his audience who were expecting another album of radio friendly pop songs. The first single "Pop!ular" was released on 12 July 2004. This single reached Number One on the US Dance Charts, and fared well in the UK. One of his out-takes from the Spin sessions, "When You Say You Love Me", was an Australian top 20 single in April 2004 for Human Nature off their Walk The Tightrope album, and was also covered by American Idol runner-up Clay Aiken for his Measure of a Man album. Hayes' follow-up single, "Darkness", charted in the lower regions of the ARIA top 50 charts.

2005–2006: Truly Madly Completely and parting ways with Columbia
In 2005, Hayes recorded a track he wrote with Robert Conley called "So Beautiful", which is included on the Savage Garden greatest hits compilation Truly Madly Completely: The Best of Savage Garden. The compilation also includes a second track by Darren called "California". Both of these tracks harken back to Hayes' early sound, although still retaining some of the electronic flourishes from The Tension and the Spark.

On 9 July 2006, Columbia Records announced that they had parted ways with Darren Hayes after ten years and 24 million album sales together.

The tour following this release saw Hayes play the iconic Sydney Opera House, certainly a highlight of his career to date. The performance was recorded and released on a DVD entitled "A Big Night in with Darren Hayes".

2007–present: This Delicate Thing We've Made
Hayes finished recording his third solo album This Delicate Thing We've Made in 2007. The album is a double-disc, with 25 tracks. A lot of the tracks were co-written with Robert Conley, and a great deal of the album was written with and produced by Justin Shave, who played keyboards for part of Hayes' Time Machine tour. The album was released on 20 August 2007 on Hayes' own independent record label, Powdered Sugar, while the first single "On the Verge of Something Wonderful" was released in Australia on 28 July 2007 and in the UK and online on 6 August 2007.

On 9 April 2007, Hayes released the album track "Who Would Have Thought?" from This Delicate Thing We've Made as a teaser track on his official website, as well as his MySpace profile. This was accompanied by an animation for the song created by his partner, animator and director, Richard Cullen. Around April 2007, remixes of the album track "Step into the Light" were being played in clubs around the world. The album version of "Step into the Light" was released as a teaser on Hayes' official website and MySpace on 30 April 2007.

During the first half of 2007, Hayes performed selected songs from the album in small exclusive gigs around the world. Tickets for several of these much sought after shows sold out in under ten minutes. In June 2007, Hayes embarked on a small tour of USA and Canada, stopping in New York, Toronto, Chicago, San Francisco and Los Angeles, along with the band Temposhark. The shows were well received with very positive reviews.

On 30 June 2007, Hayes headlined the London Gay Pride at Trafalgar Square.[3] He performed "I Want You" and "On the Verge of Something Wonderful" as well as a medley that included "Pop!ular".

In July 2007, Hayes announced The Time Machine Tour that would start out in the UK, and then move on to Hayes' home country Australia.

On 29 July 2007, "On the Verge of Something Wonderful" was the most selected music video on The Box in the UK.

On 20 August 2007, This Delicate Thing We've Made was released in the UK, America and Australia.

Hayes just finished touring this release with 'The Time Machine Tour' in the UK (where he played venues like The Royal Albert Hall) and Australia. Yet again, his stage was designed by Willie Williams. On the final night in Brisbane the performance was recorded in HD for a DVD release. The Time Machine Tour DVD will come in two editions; the special which is limited to 2000 and contains a four panel fold out, a gleaming white box, and a 32 page color booklet with 300 photos and notes from the artist, and the regular edition. The special edition DVD is set for a 1 July release whereas the regular edition is set for 22 July.

Hayes did a mini tour in the US in November and December 2007, making appearances at Borders stores and performing two shows in New York City and Philadelphia. He plans to do a one off New years party this coming new year in the UK, much like fellow Australian Kylie Minogue did last year.

On 18 December 2007, Hayes announced the "Side Two Tour". The show will tour the UK in February 2008 and will feature Hayes performing songs from This Delicate Thing We've Made that were not featured on "The Time Machine Tour" in an intimate setting. Hayes will then be taking a sabbatical for the rest of the year.

Personal life
Hayes married makeup artist Colby Taylor in 1994. The two had met while in college in Australia. They separated in 1998 and were divorced in 2000.

Hayes entered into a civil partnership with his boyfriend of three years, Richard Cullen, on 19 June 2006 in London.[4] In keeping with his usual practice of not talking about his sexual orientation, he did not announce the civil partnership until 17 July 2006, when the information appeared on his official website. Before the announcement of their civil union, Cullen's name had only appeared on the website as the designer of the cover for Hayes' single "So Beautiful".

Hayes is a well-known Star Wars buff and has been since childhood. He also collects Star Wars memorabilia and he even auditioned for a role in Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith.[5]

Hayes has been based in London since 2004.

Darren Hayes

Darren Stanley Hayes (born 8 May 1972) is an Australian singer-songwriter. Hayes debuted in 1996 as the frontman and singer of the pop duo Savage Garden, whose 1997 album Savage Garden propelled them to stardom. It spawned the singles "I Want You", "To the Moon and Back", and the airplay number-one "Truly Madly Deeply". The duo followed the success of their debut album with Affirmation (1999), which also produced several hits such as "I Knew I Loved You", "The Animal Song" and "Crash and Burn". Savage Garden sold more than 23 million albums worldwide before parting ways in 2001.[1]

Hayes released his first solo album Spin in 2002. The album sold two million copies worldwide, debuted at #2 in the UK album charts and spawned the hit single "Insatiable". The album was supposed to continue the success of Savage Garden and make Hayes an even bigger star. However, it failed to meet the expectations of Hayes' record company at the time, despite selling several million copies worldwide. Hayes' second solo album The Tension and the Spark marked a big change of direction for the singer-songwriter, showing him experimenting with electronica and dark, depressing lyrics. This ultimately became the reason why Hayes and his record label parted ways in 2006. Hayes then started his own independent record label Powdered Sugar, from which he would release his third solo album This Delicate Thing We've Made (2007). Including his work with Savage Garden, Hayes has sold more than 25 million albums worldwide

Early life

Hayes was born on 8 May 1972 in Brisbane, Australia. He is the youngest of three children. He started performing for his mother in his lounge room from an early age. At Mabel Park High School, Hayes appeared in the school musicals Man of Steel (playing Jimmy Olsen) in 1988 and Bye Bye Birdie (playing Albert) in 1989. He also sang at school concerts before graduating in 1989.[citation needed]

Hayes declined an opportunity to attend a performance academy in favour of studying at the University of Queensland. He ended up deferring a degree to pursue a musical career

Savage Garden History

Savage Garden was an Australian pop duo that enjoyed major international success between 1997 and 2000. The band was composed of Darren Hayes (vocals) and Daniel Jones (keyboards, sequencing, and guitar). They had a string of hits in the late nineties, and are best remembered today for their ballad "Truly Madly Deeply", which is considered their signature song, and the songs "To the Moon and Back", "I Knew I Loved You", "Crash and Burn", "I Want You" and "Affirmation".

History

Formation

In 1993, multi-instrumentalist and producer Daniel Jones placed an advertisement in Brisbane newspaper Time Off seeking a vocalist for his five-piece band Red Edge. Darren Hayes, who was studying at a university in Brisbane at the time, responded and was asked to join immediately after his first audition.

In June 1994, Darren and Daniel left Red Edge to pursue a career together. The new duo was named "Savage Garden" – a name taken from The Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice ("The mind of each man is a savage garden...") of which Darren was a fan.

By the end of that year, the pair had penned enough songs for a demo tape, which they sent to various record companies around the world. In 1995, they entered the studio to work on their eponymous debut album.

Debut album
In July 1996, under Roadshow Music, the duo released their debut single "I Want You". The single was a hit in Australia and became the highest-selling single by an Australian artist of the year. The success of the single garnered much interest from many US record labels and, in September, Columbia Records won the bidding war to sign the band. In November, a second single, "To the Moon and Back", was released and was another chart hit – reaching #1 in January of the following year.

"I Want You" was released in the United States in February 1997, where it peaked at #4 and quickly achieved gold status. "Truly Madly Deeply", the band's third Australian single, was released in March and reached #1 just before "I Want You" was released across Europe in April. The duo's debut album, Savage Garden, entered the Australian charts at #1 in March and remained at that peak for 17 weeks – it was released around the world two weeks later. At the end of May, "To the Moon and Back" was the most played song on US radio.

In June, a fourth single, "Break Me Shake Me" was released in Australia as the band's debut album sat at #3 on the US charts and was certified gold by RIAA. By the end of August, the album had gone seven-times platinum in Australia, triple-platinum in Canada, and double-platinum in New Zealand and Singapore. At the end of August, Savage Garden was nominated for a record 13 ARIA Awards. The 10 ARIAs won by them in September was also a record, and one that still stands today. Riding this massive wave of popularity was the release of their fifth Australian single, "Universe".

In November, "Truly Madly Deeply" became their third US release, shooting up the charts to blow Elton John's "Candle in the Wind 1997" out of its 14-week run at the number-one spot. By the end of 1997, Hayes and Jones had become international stars.

In January 1998, "All Around Me", was released as a radio only single in Australia, though about 3000 physical copies were produced and given away at their second concert in Brisbane. By the end of the year, "Truly Madly Deeply" was the most-played song on US radio and the only one-sided single to spend a full year in the Top 30 of the Billboard Hot 100.

In November 1998, "Santa Monica", the final single from the debut album, was released exclusively in Japan, accompanied by a live video with their performance of the song at the Hard Rock Cafe.

As of 2005, the band's debut album had been certified twelve-times platinum in Australia, seven-times platinum in the United States, and double-platinum in the United Kingdom.

[edit] Affirmation
In February 1999, "The Animal Song" (featured in the Touchstone film The Other Sister) became a hit in Australia and the US. That September saw the release of a new single previewing their forthcoming album; the smooth, romantic ballad, "I Knew I Loved You".

In November of that year, the duo's second album, Affirmation, was released around the world. It took a month for it to go platinum in the US, largely due to the success of the single "I Knew I Loved You," which hit #1 on the charts, eventually going platinum and becoming the most-played single on US radio for the year.

Affirmation saw a new turn for Savage Garden; their looks had more similarities to that of mainstream pop and some of their new songs possessed a more adult contemporary sound.

The group finished out the year by winning two Billboard Music Awards: Adult Contemporary Single of the Year and Hot 100 Singles Airplay of the Year.

In February 2000, as "Crash and Burn" became the third single from their second album, 1997's "Truly Madly Deeply" was amazingly still on the Monitor/Billboard Adult Contemporary Airplay Chart, breaking the record for length of time of any single on that chart. It would finally drop off the chart after 123 weeks, while "Crash and Burn" peaked at #24.

In June, Darren Hayes performed "'O Sole Mio" at Italian tenor Luciano Pavarotti's annual charitable benefit concert Pavarotti and Friends. Savage Garden's great success was reflected once again at the Billboard Music Awards, where they won Best Adult Contemporary Video and No. 1 Adult Contemporary Song of the Year, for "I Knew I Loved You", and No. 1 Adult Contemporary Artist of the Year. "I Knew I Loved You" stayed on the Monitor/Billboard Adult Contemporary Airplay Chart for 124 weeks – overtaking the duo's own record previously set by "Truly Madly Deeply".

Split
In October 2001, Savage Garden officially announced their breakup and the duo went their separate ways. Darren began work on his first solo album. The first single, "Insatiable", was released in 2002 and the album, Spin was released the same year. Spin spawned several UK Top 40 singles, including "I Miss You", "Strange Relationship", and "Crush (1980 Me)".

Darren's second solo album, The Tension and the Spark, was released in 2004, its first single "Pop!ular" becoming a dance hit. Despite a follow-up single, "Darkness", the second album failed to repeat the success of his debut solo album.

In 2007, Darren's third solo album, This Delicate Thing We've Made, was released. This double CD album has spawned two singles, "On the Verge of Something Wonderful" and "Me, Myself and I".

Darren Hayes has confirmed that Savage Garden will "never by any chance" reunite.[citation needed]

Truly Madly Completely
The greatest hits package Truly Madly Completely: The Best of Savage Garden was released on November 7, 2005 – with a US release following in early 2006 – and included a new single by Darren Hayes entitled "So Beautiful". The collection contained the hits from both studio albums, alongside five B-Sides and two new songs by Darren Hayes. Several variations of the release also included a bonus DVD featuring several music video clips, as well as the Parallel Lives documentary, which was earlier released as a bonus feature of the Superstars and Cannonballs DVD/VHS.

Tours

[edit] The Future of Earthly Delites
The Future of Earthly Delites tour was called the To the Moon and Back Tour in the US. Some footage from this tour can be seen in the international music video for "Break Me Shake Me", as well as the music video for "Tears of Pearls".

Affirmation World Tour
The international music video for the song "Affirmation", as well as the music videos for "Chained to You" and "The Best Thing", were filmed during the Affirmation World Tour. During the Australian leg of the tour, a camera crew also filmed both on-stage and backstage for what would later be the Superstars and Cannonballs DVD/VHS.

Lyric Song : Violet Savage Garden

If there's a way that you could be everything you want to be,
Would you complain that it came to easy?
Just like the games with you and me
A resolution hard to see,
But that's O.K. 'cause I don't see things that are plain to see

I've got a dream to take you over
Exploding like a supernova
I'm going to crash into your world
And that's no lie

You want to give ecstasy delivered with certainty
But you're afraid that the pleasure won't be needed
In a way, we're the same two people looking out to sea
For a wave that would carry all our fantasies

If there's a way to infiltrate you
Sway your mind and complicate you
I'm going to crash into your world
And that's no lie

Let your body move into the doorway
To the disco inside your head (Violet)
Wear a color that you want to cling to
The color inside your head (Violet)

Contemplate jealousy intermixed with urgency
A million things take a damned good shot at you and me

If there's a way to infiltrate you
Sway your mind and complicate you
I'm going to crash into your world
And that's no lie

Let your body move into the doorway
To the disco inside your head (Violet)
Wear a color that you want to cling to
The color inside your head (Violet)

I'm gonna take you
I'll do my best to break you
I'm gonna take you higher
And that's no lie

Common sense is a game many people don't like to play
But give it in and the moment takes you either way

I've got a dream to take you over
Exploding like a supernova
I'm going to crash into your world
And that's no lie

Let your body move into the doorway
To the disco inside your head (Violet)
Wear a color that you want to cling to
The color inside your head (Violet)

If there's a way that you could be everything you want to be,
Would you complain that it came to easy?
In a way, we're the same two people looking out to sea
For a wave that would carry all our fantasies

Lyric Song : Universe Savage Garden

Well I'd like to take you as I find you
Imagine our clothes are on the floor
Feel my caress so soft and gentle
So delicate you cry for more
But you know baby
You know baby does it right
And you know baby does it right

Universe inside of your heart
You gotta let me know so you can be free baby
You wanted it so much, and now that it's over
You don't know what you want

Put time in a capsule
Two minds consensual
Entwined to perfection
If we could...

Cuddle up close
Lay on my chest now
Listen my heart beat's coming down
If you get tired you close your eyes now
When you wake up I won't be found
'Cause I know baby
I know you're the nervous kind
With so much going on in your mind

Universe inside your heart
You gotta let me know so you can be free baby
You wanted it so much, and now that it's over
You don't know what you want

But let me tell you that, this time,
I'm going to make you mine
(I won't let you go)
'Cause I know, this time
I'm going to make sure I look out for me

'Cause you know baby
Well you know baby does it right
And you know baby does it right
You will only end up lost in loneliness
And wake up with the words already on your lips
So I'll let you go, baby
So I'll let you go...

Universe inside your heart
You gotta let me know so you can be free baby
You wanted it so much, and now that it's over
You don't know what you want

Lyric Song : This Side of Me Savage Garden

I want to move in time with you
I want to breathe in rhyme with you
I want to feel the deepest kiss
And I want to know you feel like this

For this one time, one time
Let my body do what it feels
For this one time, one time
Let this fantasy become real
Because I am not afraid to let you see this side of me

I want to feel your hand in mine
And I want to feel that rush in my spine
I want to wear the scent of you
And do all the things you want me to

For this one time, one time
Let my body do what it feels
For this one time, one time
Let this fantasy become real
Because I am not afraid to let you see this side of me

I feel the danger, the separation
I want to take your invitation
This separation it's all around
I need this side of me

I want to move in time with you
I want to breathe in rhyme with you
I want to stitch my clothes in sin
And in the dark
I want to find that door and go within

For this one time, one time
Let my body do what it feels
For this one time, one time
Let this fantasy become real
Because I am not afraid to let you see this side of me
I am not afraid to let you see this side of me

Lyric Song : This is Where I Belong Savage Garden

Here I stand in the northern rain,
And I can't believe I am home again,
And I can't believe how nothing's changed,
I'm finding my way.
Old park bench, where I carved my name,
But now it doesn't stand alone.
'cause now the trees have over grown,
Many a road that I have traveled, that had led me astray,
Here's where my heart's gonna stay.

This is where I belong,
This is where I come from,
No need to shed my tears,
Or face my fears anymore.Ah...

So I won't walk alone,
Taking things on my own,
All of the lands I've roamed,
Memories of my heart,
They keep beating strong,
'cause this is where I belong .

There you stood in the open door,
Just like so many years before,
When I told you that I need you more in my life,
I was wrong to ever walk away,
Abandon all the love that we made,
But now I've learned from all my mistakes,
Just like a star in the sky,
Guiding me on,
Your love is pulling me home.

This is where I belong,
This is where I come from,
No need to shed my tears,
Or face my fears anymore.Ah...

So I won't walk alone,
Taking things on my own,
All of the lands I've roamed,
Memories of my heart,
They keep beating strong,
'cause this is where I belong .

Just like a star in the sky,
Guiding me on,
Your love is pulling me home.

This is where I belong,
This is where I come from,
No need to shed my tears,
Or face my fears anymore.Ah...

So I won't walk alone,
Taking things on my own,
All of the lands I've roamed,
Memories of my home,
They keep beating strong,
'cause this is where I belong .

Right here ,
Right now ,
This is where I belong.

I am coming alone,
I am coming home .
This is where I belong.

This is where I belong.
Here I stand,
Here I'm in the northern rain.
This is where I belong.

Right here ,
Right now ,
This is where I belong.
This is where I belong.

Lyric Song : Santa Monica Savage Garden

In Santa Monica, in the wintertime,
The lazy streets so undemanding
I walk into the crowd
In Santa Monica, you get your coffee from
The coolest places on the promenade
Where people dress just so
Beauty so unavoidable, everywhere you turn
It's there.
I sit and wonder what am I doing here?

But on the telephone line I am anyone
I am anything I want to be.
I could be a super model or Norman Mailer
And you wouldn't know the difference
Or would you?

In Santa Monica, all the people got modern names
Like Jake or Mandy
And modern bodies too
In Santa Monica, on the boulevard,
You'll have to dodge those in-line skaters
Or they'll knock you down
I never felt so lonely,
Never felt so out of place
I never wanted something more than this

But on the telephone line I am anyone
I am anything I want to be
I could be a super model or Norman Mailer
And you wouldn't know the difference
On the telephone line, I am any height
I am any age I want to be
I could be a caped crusader, or space invader
And you wouldn't know the difference
Or would you?

Or would you?

But on the telephone line I am anyone
I am anything I want to be
I could be a super model or Norman Mailer
And you wouldn't know the difference
On the telephone line, I am any height
I am any age I want to be
I could be a caped crusader, or space invader
And you wouldn't know the difference
Or would you?

Lyric Song : Mine Savage Garden

I wait in the darkness.
Frozen winds surround my face.
In the cover of darkness I can make believe it's you.
I feel you like the rain,
I feel you like a storm cloud building in my heart.
I wonder if you know the pain, to want the one thing that you haven't got.

Just a twist in time ...and you could be mine
Just a sip of wine ...and you could be mine
Just a kiss devine

A hand brushes by my love.
A smile fuels a steel inferno
You don't have to die to leave my world.
Stand still and you've departed.
It seems I'm not on your mind and I'm wasting my time.
I'm just a fool to believe.
In the death of the night can you feel me inside?
I wish that you could conceive..

Just a twist in time ...and you could be mine
Just a sip of wine ...and you could be mine
Just a kiss devine ...and you could be mine

Won't you leave me in the darkness.
Take away the pride, all the dignity that's burning inside.
Can't you see I'm standing naked.
I'll bear all the crosses and the crucifixes you can provide.
If you could decide.

Just a twist in time
Just a sip of wine
Just a kiss devine

Just a twist in time ...and you could be mine
Just a sip of wine ...and you could be mine
Just a kiss devine ...and you could be mine

Just a twist in time ...and you could be mine
Just a sip of wine ...and you could be mine
Just a kiss devine ...and you could be mine

Just a twist in time ...and you could be mine
Just a sip of wine ...and you could be mine
Just a kiss devine ...and you could be mine

Lyric Song : Memories Are Designed To Fade Savage Garden

I'd never let you down when you're in a fix
I'd come running when you call
That's my weakness baby
So connected are we

You get your kicks from the ghost of a memory
So busy turning away from reality baby
That you just won't let it go

But memories fade
Yeah they're designed that way

But you're so wrapped up in her you don't see straight
Watch her mangle the truth while you take the bait
So tell her can't you see?
Your just turning yourself inside out for no need

This thing you're using is worse then a photograph
It picks you up and it turns you inside out now baby
And it just won't let you go

But memories fade
Yeah they're designed that way

She doesn't love you anymore
Maybe she did long ago
You're just a slave to the grind that she grew tired of baby
So tell her can't you see?
You're just turning yourself inside out for no need

But memories fade
Cause they're designed that way

She doesn't love you anymore
Maybe she did long ago
You're just a slave to the grind that she grew tired of baby
So tell her can't you see?
You're just turning yourself
You're just turning yourself inside out for no need

You're just turning yourself inside out for no need

Lyric Song : Magical Kisses Savage Garden

I'm gonna plant a kiss
Like a magic seed
And watch it grow into everything
For you and me
I'll be your dream
I'll be your wish
I'll be your fantasy
I'll be your hope
I'll be your love
Be everything that you need
I'll love you more with every breath
Truly madly deeply do
I will be strong
I will be faithful
Cause I'm counting on a new beginning
A reason for living
A deeper meaning
I've got all your magical kisses
Magical kisses on my lips now
Magical kisses, magical kisses on my lips now
And when the stars are shining brightly in the velvet sky
I'll make a wish, send it to heaven and make you want to cry
The tears of joy for all the pleasure and the certainty
That we're surrounded by the comfort and protection
Of the highest power
In lonely hours
The tears devour you
I've got all your magical kisses
Magical kisses on my lips now
Magical kisses, magical kisses on my lips now
All that you need will surely come
And your seed will soon be gone
I'm gonna plant a kiss
Like a magic seed
And watch it grow into everything
For you and me
I'll be your dream
I'll be your wish
I'll be your fantasy
Hey woman how about-a your magic kisses now?
I'll love you more with every breath
Truly Madly Deeply do
Hey woman how about-a your magic kisses now?
For a new beginning
A reason for living
A deeper meaning
I've got all your magical kisses
Magical kisses on my lips now
Magical kisses, magical kisses on my lips now
Chorus and "Hey woman" part together
Through the love as it grows all around
Magical kisses

Lyric Song : Love Can Move You Savage Garden

Get me through the heart of the freeway
I got to see the lights up in New York city
I'm so close I think I can hear the sound of the taxi siren symphony
Don't you want to feel amazing?
Baby you know I do
You'll get back ten times what you give freely
Like my mamma told me

Love can move you take you deeper every time
Can make the darkest moments feel like heaven's come alive
Love can move you to a place inside your heart
Where you can fear no evil and acceptance is a natural part of life

Climb into the heart of the subway
Creepin' like a snake into New York city
I'm so close I think I can see those lights
Let the sun get closer to the ground
Don't you want to feel amazing?
Baby you know I do
You'll get back ten times what you give freely
Like my mamma told me

Love can move you take you deeper every time
Can make the darkest moments feel like heaven's come alive
Love can move you to a place inside your heart
Where you can fear no evil and acceptance is a natural part of life

It's about the one thing
It's about the one thing
Not about the kind of shoes your wearin'
Not about religion

And I breathe the love you've given
And I feel the love you've hidden
And though it's cold down here well I can honestly say
I can still stay

That love can move you
Love can move you, baby
Love can move you
That love can move you too child

Love can move you take you deeper every time
Can make the darkest moments feel like heaven's come alive
Love can move you to a place inside your heart
Where you can fear no evil and acceptance is a natural part

Love can move you take you deeper every time
Can make the darkest moments feel like heaven's come alive
Love can move you to a place inside your heart
Where you can fear no evil and acceptance is a natural part

And I breathe the love you've given
And I feel the love you've hidden
And though it's cold down here well I still, I still try

Love can move you
You know that love can move you too child
Love can move you
You know that love can move you

And I breathe the love you've given
And I feel the love you've hidden
It's cold down here but I still, I still say...

Lyric Song : Lift Me Up Savage Garden

When I'm down on my luck and I'm searching for my soul
When I'm feeling too much and I start to lose control
When I'm down so low that even enemys still wanna know
You still care for me, say a prayer for me, and I know

Ooh I like you hanging around
Cause you lift me up when I am upside down
Ooh you're my favorite sound
Cause you're always down for
Lifting me up like an angel when I hit the ground
Feel your arms all around me when I'm feeling down
Lift me up like an angel when I hit my low
when your arms all around me
I don't wanna let you go

When I'm lost along the way and I can't face another day
And if I stumble on the road and if I can't carry the load
If I lose my faith, kindness, generosity
Would you hold my hand?
Say you understand my pain

It's been a long hard road and it's only just begun my friend
And this I know you help me carry the load
Cause you're always down for

Lifting me up like an angel when I hit the ground
Feel your arms all around me when I'm feeling down
Lift me up like an angel when I hit my low
When you're always around..
You're my favorite sound

Lift me up like an angel when I hit the ground
Feel your arms all around me when I'm feeling down
Lift me up like an angel when I hit my low
When your arms all around me
I don't wanna let you go

Lyric Song : Last Christmas Savage Garden

Last Christmas I gave you my heart,
But the very next day, you gave it away.
This year, to save me from tears,
I'll give it to someone special. 2X

special!*

Someone... oooh...*

Once bitten, and twice shy,
I keep my distance, but you still catch my eye.
Tell me, baby,
Do you recognize me?
Well*, it's been a year,
It doesn't surprise me.
Happy Christmas.
I wrapped it up and sent it,
With a letter*,
Saying "I love you", I meant it.
Now I know,
What I fool I've been.
But if you kiss me now,
I know you'll fool me again.

Last Christmas I gave you my heart,
But the very next day, you gave it away.
This year, to save me from tears,
I'll give it to someone special.

Last Christmas I gave you my heart,
But the very next day, you gave it away.
This year, to save me from tears,
I'll give it to someone special. (special) Special!* Someone!*

A crowded room,
Friends with tired eyes.
I'm hiding from you,
*And your soul of ice.*
My God, I thought you were someone to rely on,
Me? I guess I was a shoulder to cry on.
A face on a lover,
With a fire in his heart.
A man undercover,
But you tore me* apart.
*Oooh.. now I've found a real love,
You'll never fool me again*

Last Christmas I gave you my heart,
But the very next day, you gave it away.
This year, to save me from tears,
I'll give it to someone special. x 2

Someone!*

*Guilty feet have got no rhythm,
Guilty feet have got no rhythm,
No no! Ooh-ooh.
Now I found a real love will never fool Me again!*

Someone!*

Lyric Song : Kiss From A Rose Savage Garden

There used to be a greying tower alone on the sea
You became the light on the dark side of me
Love remains a drug that's the high and not the pill
But did you know that when it snows my eyes become large
And the light that you shine can't be seen?

Baby, I compare you to a kiss from a rose on the grey
Ooh, the more I get of you, th'stranger it feels, yeah
Now that your rose is in bloom, a light hits the gloom on the grey

There is so much a man can tell you, so much he can say
You remain my power, my pleasure, my pain, baby
To me you're like a growin' addiction that I can't deny
Won't you tell me is that healthy, babe?
But did you know that when it snows, my eyes become large
And the light that you shine can't be seen?

Baby, I compare you to a kiss from a rose on the grey
Ooh, the more I get of you, th'stranger it feels, yeah
Now that your rose is in bloom, a light hits the gloom on the grey

(Instrumental)

I've been kissed by a rose on the grey, I've been kissed by a rose
I've been kissed by a rose on the grey (If I should fall...)
I've been kissed by a rose on the grey...

There is so much a man can tell you, so much he can say
You remain my power, my pleasure, my pain
To me you're like a growin' addiction that I can't deny
Won't you tell me is that healthy, baby?
But did you know, that when it snows, my eyes become large
And the light that you shine can't be seen?

Baby, I compare you to a kiss from a rose on the grey
Ooh, the more I get of you, th'stranger it feels, yeah
Now that your rose is in bloom, a light hits the gloom on the grey
Yes I compare to a kiss from a rose on the grey
Ooh, the more I get of you, th'stranger it feels, yeah
Now that your rose is in bloom, a light hits the gloom on the grey...

Now that your rose is in bloom, a light hits the gloom...
On the...
Grey...

Lyric Song : Keep Moving On Savage Garden

And she takes another step, slowly she opens the door
Checks that he sleeping, pick up all the broken glass,
And furniture on the floor
Been up half the night screaming now it's time to get away
Pack up the kids in the car
Another bruise to try and hide
Another alibi to ride

Another ditch in the road you keep movin'
Another stop sign, you keep movin' on
And the years go by so fast
Wonder how I ever made it through

There are children to think of
Babies asleep in the backseat
Wonder how they'll ever make it through this living nightmare
But the mind is an amazing thing
Full of candy dreams and new toys and another cheap hotel
Two beds and a coffee machine
But they are groceries to buy and she knows she'll hafta go home

Another ditch in the road, you keep moving
Another stop sign, you keep moving on
And the years go by so fast
Wonder how I ever made it through

Another bruise to try and hide
Another alibi to ride
Another lonely highway in the black of night
There's hope in the darkness, you know you're gonna make it

Another ditch in the road you keep moving
Another stop sign, you keep moving on
And the years go by so fast
Sellin' fortress built to last
Wonder how I ever made it
Ooooh...
Mmmm...

Lyric Song : Insatiable (Darren Hayes) Savage Garden

when moonlight crawls along the street
chasing away the summer heat
footsteps outside somewhere below
the world revolves i let it go
we build our church above the streets
we practice love between these sheets
the candy sweetness scent of you
it bathes my skin
i'm stained by you

and all i have to do is hold you
there's a racing within my heart
and i am barely touching you

turn the lights down low
take it off let me show
my love for you insatiable

turn me on never stop
wanna taste every drop
my love for you insatiable baby

the moonlight plays upon your skin
a kiss that lingers takes me in
i fall asleep inside of you
there are no words there's only truth
breathe in breath out there is no sound
we move together up and down
we levitate our bodies soar
our feet dont even touch the floor

and nobody knows you like i do
cause the world they don't understand
but i grow stronger in your hands

turn the lights down low
take it off let me show
my love for you insatiable

turn me on never stop
wanna taste every drop
my love for you insatiable baby

we never sleep we're always holding hands
kissing for hours, talking, making plans
i feel like a better man
just being in the same room
and we never sleep there's just so much to do
so much to say
can't close my eyes when i'm with you
insatiable, the way i'm loving you baby

turn the lights down low
take it off let me show
my love for you insatiable

turn me on never stop
wanna taste every drop
my love for you insatiable baby

Lyric Song : I Don't Care Savage Garden

I ride this train
In the windswept afternoon
And the sunlight warms the faces
Of the faithless who are waiting
I ride this train
But I need a conversation
Mozambique or was it Veronique?
How about you pick the subject
And I'll listen to you?
People tell me that I feel too much
But I don't care, I don't care
People tell me that I need too much
But I don't care, no I don't care

I ride this train
In a dream-like state of mind
Through a field of frozen memories
Imagination racing
I ride this train
But I need to make connections
No I wasn't staring
I was only trying
To get some substance
To get some meaning

People tell me that I feel too much
But I don't care, no I don't care
People tell me that I need too much
Well I don't care, no I don't care

People tell me that I feel too much
Oh no cause I don't care
No I just don't care anymore
I will ride this train

People tell me that I feel too much
But I don't care, no I don't care
People tell me that I need too much
But I don't care, no I just don't care

People tell me that I feel too much
Oh no cause I don't care
No I just don't care anymore
As I ride this train

As I ride this train
As I ride this train
Keep on riding this train
As I ride this train
As I ride this train
Oooh

Lyric Song : I'll Bet He Was Cool Savage Garden

You know every once in a while
I shoot the breeze I spend my time
I talk about silly things
I like to talk about Jesus Christ
Cos I wonder what would happen if He passed you by
Would you be scared?
Would you believe in him?
Would you bust your asses to get him institutionalised?
Well, I bet he'd be cool
I bet He be damn good looking
I bet that He smelt divine
I'm not talking about Calvin Klein's Obsession
Just one of those people smell good all the time
There's no reason why
What would He wear
Would He wear Tommy Hilfiger?
Or prefer Urban Outfitted?
I don't think so
Well, I bet He liked Gaultier
But you'd never find him in it
I bet He liked Gaultier
Lord I need your protection spend some time in my direction
I need your protection spend some time in my direction
I need your protection spend some time in my direction
You know every once and a while
I shoot the breeze I spend my time
I talk about silly things
And tonight I'd like to talk to you about Jesus Christ
'Cos I wonder how we'd deal if He just passed you by
I bet he'd be a star
I bet my star wars figures He would be a movie star
A Quentin Tarantino next-big-thing
Prima donna, then he'd appear on Oprah
You know what? I don't think so
Could you imagine him hanging Piccadilly Circus
Time Square, the walk of fame
At Christies He could easily become a regular
D'you know what? I don't think so
I bet my speeder bike he'd turn his back on all of that
Lord I need your protection spend some time in my direction
I need your protection spend some time in my direction
I need your protection spend some time in my direction
Some people have just got it
You know like standing next to Elvis Presley
Well then multiply that feeling by 1 million
And you know what I'm talking about
Well I'll bet He was cool
Man I bet that cat was so damn good looking

Lyric Song : Gypsy Girl Savage Garden

So gypsy=this is NOT savage garden!
Was a sleek and silver gypsy
Who knocked upon my door
I turn her away
But she won't take no anymore
Well I've been stomping on the doors
And I've been peeling off the walls
Just to make sense and reason
And ohhhhhh
I can't addict your shame
(?)
She sayin'
I'll move you
Push through you
I'll take your mind in tonight
And she won't stop
Solidly she takes you
And the visions fade away
Well if you're glad, be her captive,
You won't turn your day away
Well you'll be clawing on the ceiling
To escape what you are feeling
But the pleasure carries on...
Well you'll been stomping down the doors
And you'll been peeling off the walls
Just to make sense and reason
And ohhhhhh
I can't addict the shame
I'll move you
Push through you
I'll take your mind in tonight
I'll move you
Push through you
I'll take your mind in tonight
And she won't stop

Lyric Song : Fire Inside the Man Savage Garden

Woman I need your guiding hand
show me the way to the promised land
the fever that burns in my heart
your the fire inside the man
yes you are.

Whenever I feel like just giving up
whenever my dreams just fade away
I just return to my heart 'cause I know that I'll find you there
yes I will.

And when the world is closing in
you come save me once again.

'Cause Woman I need your guiding hand
show me the way to the promised land
the fever that burns in my heart
your the fire inside the man
yes you are.

Well, there's never been a boy, who's luckier
there's never been more grateful man
And although I don't show it and I
I know what I've got with you
yes I do.

'Cause Woman I need your guiding hand, show me the way to the promised land
the fever that burns in my heart
your the fire inside the man
yes you are.

And if there's a storm that's close at hand
you'll push it away, you'll understand
And I'll do anything
just to please you
I'll do anything just to know that I can hold on to you.

Whenever I feel like just giving up
whenever my dreams just fade away
I just return to my heart 'cause I know that I'll find you there
yes I will.

'Cause woman I need it
woman I need it
woman I need it
I need it
I need your guiding hand.

Woman I need your guiding hand
show me the way to the promised land
the fever that burns in my heart
your the fire inside the man
yes you are.

'Cause Woman I need your guiding hand
show me the way to the promised land
the fever that burns in my heart
your the fire inside the man
yes you are.

You are.

Lyric Song : Chained To You Savage Garden

We were standing all alone you were leaning in to speak to me
Acting like a mover shaker dancing to Madonna then you kissed me
And I think about it all the time
Sweet temptation rush all over me
And I think about it all the time
Passion desire so intense I can't take anymore because

I feel the magic all around you
It's bringing me to my knees
Like I wanna be
I've got to be chained to you

And when you looked into my eyes felt a sudden sense of urgency
Fascination casts a spell and you became more than just a mystery
And I think about you all the time
Is this fate is it my destiny
That I think about you all the time
I no longer pretend to have my hand on the wheel because

I feel the magic all around you
It's bringing me to my knees
Like I wanna be
I've got to be chained to you
I feel the magic building around you

I feel the magic all around you
It's bringing me to my knees
Like a wanna be
I've got to be chained to you

And I think about it all the time
And I think about it all the time
Tell me it's madness I barely know you
We were standing all alone you were leaning in to speak to me
Ten steps back you're still a mystery
Acting like a mover shaker dancing to Madonna then you kissed me
I can't take anymore because

I feel the magic all around you
It's bringing me to my knees
Like I wanna be
I've got to be chained to you

I feel the magic building around you
I feel the magic all around you
It's bringing me to my knees
Like I wanna be
I've got to be chained to you

Tell me it's madness
I barely know you

Lyric Song : Carry On Dancing Savage Garden

The moonlight...
Shines down interstellar beams
And the groove tonight
Is something more than you've ever seen
The stars and planets taking shape
A stolen kiss has come too late

In the moonlight
Carry on, keep romancing,
Carry on, carry on dancing
In the moonlight
Carry on, keep romancing,
Carry on, carry on dancing

You're never safe 'till you see the dawn
And if the clock strikes past midnight
The hope is gone
To move under...

In the moonlight
Carry on, keep romancing,
Carry on, carry on dancing
In the moonlight
Carry on, keep romancing,
Carry on, carry on dancing

Closer. Passion. Stronger

There's a magic only two can tell
In the dark night
Ultra violet is a wicked spell
The stars and planets taking shape
A stolen kiss has come to late

In the moonlight
Carry on, keep romancing,
Carry on, carry on dancing
In the moonlight
Carry on, keep romancing,
Carry on, carry on dancing

Moving on... Moving all night

Lyric Song : Aubergine Girl Savage Garden

Chorus
Aubergine girl,
I'll give you all,
I'll give you up,
Might never give in
Aubergine girl,
I'll be alone
I'll be your beau
But I'll believe you, I'll believe
I've got your picture on the bedroom wall
Your silky monents are on my mind, Yeah
And I just can't believe
a girl with your discretion
would be so blind
she can't see whats in front of her eyes
Girl, you don't notice (I think you do)
Things moving way too slow,
I just dream of places we could go
Chorus
I've see the other girlies in the magazines, Yeah
But that kinds of beauty is not my style, No
The way you're looking at me,
I guess I can't believe it
You know, I'm usually shy
but I'm willing to try
Girl, I think i want you (Baby)
I don't want to take you home,
I just want someone to call my own
cos you're my....
Chorus
I want you baby, you know I really need you baby
Well I love ya and i want ya baby
I really need you baby
Daniel: Its a pretty fine line between a boy and a girl but believe my
aubergine you rule my world...
Chorus to fade

Lyric Song : All Around Me Savage Garden

Well you know every time
I look at that expression printed on the page
I think I hear you
Whispering the magic and the compliments I need so badly
So baby come on, oh, so baby come on
Now I've been running circles around the notion
That you'll find me baby
One day maybe
But all the psychic powers of suggestion
I've been sending your way
So can't you hear me say?

I want your arms all around me
I want your face, yeah, all around me
I want your perfume all around me
I like the way you move and do the funky groove

All around me I want you, all around me I need you
I want your arms all around me
I want your face, yeah, all around me
I want your perfume all around me
I like the way you move and do the funky groove

Like a cold chardonnay chilled for a day
Your smooth and crisp and on display
Like Cartier, Armani, like TAG, Gucci, Versace
In the middle of the night your a kiss so long
You're the only good thing when all is wrong
You're a magic time reversal clock
You're the fries on the side with a cherry on top
You're sleek, velvet, gold lame
Patent leather, enchante
You're a legend, you're a glamour queen
God I'm running out of words but you know what I mean

All around me I want you, all around me I need you
All around me I want you, all around me, so can't you hear me say?
I want your arms all around me
I want your face, yeah, all around me
I want your perfume all around me
I like the way you move and do the funky groove

I want your arms all around me
I want your face, yeah, all around me
I want your perfume all around me
I like the way you move and do the funky groove

So slide into your Jaguar, or Porsche baby, there you are
Well chop chop darling, au revior
Pick your things up, your a star
Oh yes, yes you are darling
Thats right. Thats right now.

Lyric Song : A Thousand Words Savage Garden

We stumble in a tangled web, decaying friendships almost dead
And hide behind a mask of lies
We twist and turn and we avoid, all hope of salvage now devoid
I see the truth inside your eyes
So take all this noise into your brain and send it back again
I'll bear the cost, shed my skin, call you up and then...
I'll say the words out loud

You could resurrect a thousand words to deceive me more and more
A thousand words will give the reasons why I don't need you anymore

Time manipulates your heart, preconceptions torn apart
Begin to doubt my state of mind
But I won't go down on what I said
I won't retract convictions read
I may perplex, but I'm not blind
So take all this noise into your brain and send it back again
I'll bear the cost, shed my skin, call you up and then...
I'll say the words out loud

You could resurrect a thousand words to deceive me more and more
A thousand words will give the reasons why I don't need you anymore

I'll say the words outloud. I'll say a thousand words or more

Manipulation. Fabrication.
Conversation. Annihilation
I'll say a thousand words or more
Damnation. Frustration. Elevation.
Procreation
I'll say a thousand words or more

You could resurrect a thousand words to deceive me more and more
A thousand words will give the reasons why I don't need you anymore

Lyric Song : California Savage Garden

I got a cottage with a sea view
I got a regular summer tan
I been working up the courage to call you all year
(Ooh)
But there are nothing i can say and there are no good words left anyway
Besides people are cruel and the world still moves without you
(Ooh)
Welcome to my Californian home, you don't have to call me you can leave when you want
There's a picture above my bed and there's a light in your eyes
I don't know
Well I don't know whether you still feel alone

And we were dying from the get go
I was dreaming but you never believe
I was trying to fit myself into spaces between
(Ooh)
And you were kind and sometimes cruel
You said all the worlds love couldn't satisfy you
And nothing coulda hurt me as much as the truth
(Ooh, darlin)

Welcome to my Californian home, you don't have to call me you can leave when you want
There's a picture above my bed and there's a light in your eyes
I don't know but tell me coz I wanna find out do you still feel alone

Love is illusive when you search for it
And don't I know
Happiness sometimes it just creeps in
And don't I know it
I'm going crazy I've been wonderin do you still feel alone?

I need to find some kind of peace of mind
I need to find
I got a cottage with a sea view
I got a regular summer tan

I know that I deserve more but I still want you

Welcome to my Californian home, you don't have to call me you can leave when you want
There's a picture above my bed and there's a light in your eyes
I don't know but tell me coz I wanna find out do you still feel

Welcone to my California
Even though I'm no good for ya
There's a part of me still waitin for ya
(Oh oh oh)

Welcome to my happy endin
Even though it's fun pretendin I know
I know you can't look back you can never go back

Lyric Song : To The Moon & Back Savage Garden

(Verse 1)
She's taking her time making up the reasons
To justify all the hurt inside
Guess she knows from the smiles and the look in their eyes
Everyone's got a theory about the bitter one
They're saying
Mama never loved her much
And daddy never keeps in touch
That's why she shies away from human affection
But somewhere in a private place
She packs her bags for outer space
And now she's waiting for the right kind of pilot
To come (and she'll say to him)
She's saying
(Chorus)
I would fly you to the moon and back
If you'll be if you'll be my baby
Got a ticket for a world where
we belong
So would you be my baby
Ooh-ooh
(Verse 2)
She can't remember a time
When she felt needed
If love was red then she was colour-blind
All her friends they've been tried for treason
And crimes that were never defined
She's saying
Love is like a barren place
And reaching out for human faith is
Is like a journey I just don't have a map for
So baby gonna take a dive and push the shift to overdrive
Send a signal that she's hanging all her hopes on the stars
(What a pleasant dream) just saying
(CHORUS x2)
Mamma never loved her much
And daddy never keeps in touch
That's why she shies away from human affection
But somewhere in a private place
She packs her bags for outer space
And now she's waiting for the right kind of pilot
To come (and she'll say to him)
She's saying
(REPEAT CHORUS TWICE

Lyric Song : So Beautiful Savage Garden

So beautiful lyrics
By Darren Hayes of savage garden

Whether I’m right wrong
There’s no phrase that hits
Like an ocean needs the sand
Or a dirty old shoe that fits
And if all the world was perfect
I would only ever want to see you scars
You know they can have their universe
We’ll be in the dirt designing stars

And darlin’ you know
You make me feel so beautiful
Nowhere else in the world I wanna be
You make feel so beautiful

Whether I’m up or down
There’s no crowd to please
I’m like a faith without a clause to believe in it
And if all the world was smiling
I would only ever want to see you frown
You know they can sail away in sunsets
We’ll be right here stranded on the ground
Just happy to be found

You make me feel so beautiful
Nowhere else in the world I wanna be
You make feel so beautiful

I have lost my illusions
I have drowned in your words
I have left my confusión to a cynical world
I am throwing myselft at things i don’t
Understand
Discover enlightenment holding your hand

You are…
So Beautiful

Lyric Song : Cherry Cola Savage Garden

Any time I need to see your face
I just close my eyes and I am taken
to a place where the crystal mind and
majenta feeling taken shelter in the base
of my spine sweet like a chica cherry cola

I don't need to try and explain I just
hold on tight and if it happens again
I might move so slightly to the arms
the lips, the face and the human
cannonball, I need to I want to
Come stand a little bit closer, breathe in and
get a bit higher you'll never know what hit you
when I get to you

Ohh I want you I don't know if I need you but
Ohh I would die to find out
Ohh I want you I don't know if I need you but
Ohh I would die to find out

Im the kind of person that indulses a deep commitment
getting comfy getting perfect is what i live for
but im looking and the smell perfume It's like im down on the
floor and I don't know what im in for

Conversation is time and a place of interaction of a lover
at the nick of time over takin using signals, using words can be like
seeing a deep sea diver who is swimming with a raincoat
Come stand a little bit closer, Breathe in and get a bit higher you'll
never know what hit you when I get to you

Ohh I want you I don't know if I need you but
Ohh I would die to find out
Ohh I want you I don't know if I need you but
Ohh I would die to find out

Any time I need to see your face
I just close my eyes and I am taken
to a place where the crystal mind and
majenta feeling taken shelter in the base
of my spine sweet like a chica cherry cola

I don't need to try and explain I just
hold on tight and if it happens again
I might move so slightly to the arms
the lips, the face and the human
cannonball, I need to I want to

Ohh I want you I don't know if I need you but
Ohh I would die to find out
Ohh I want you I don't know if I need you but
Ohh I would die to find out (so can we find out)

Ohh I want you I don't know if I need you but
Ohh I would die to find out
Ohh I want you I don't know if I need you but
Ohh I would die to find out

Ohh I want you I don't know if I need you but
Ohh I would die to find out
Ohh I want you I don't know if I need you but
Ohh I would die to find out (die to find out)

Ohh I want you I don't know if I need you but
Ohh I would die to find out
Ohh I want you I don't know if i need you but
Ohh I would die to find out

Lyric Song : Break Me Shake Me Savage Garden

I never thought Id change my
opinion again
But you moved me in a way that Ive
never known
You moved me in a way that Ive
never known

But straight away you just moved
into position again
You abused me in a way that Ive
never known
You abused me in a way that Ive
never known

So break me shake me hate me
take me over
When the madness stops then you
will be alone
Just break me shake me hate me
take me over
When the madness stops then you
will be alone

So youre the kind that deals with the
games in the mind
Well you confuse me in a way that
Ive never known
You confuse me in a way that Ive
never known

So break me shake me hate me
take me over
When the madness stops then you
will be alone
So wont you break me shake me hate me
take me over
When the madness stops then you
will be alone

She says, " I can help you, but what
do you say?"
'Cause it's not free baby, you'll have
to pay
You just keep me contemplating, that
your soul is slowly fading

God, don't you know that I live with a ton
of regret?
'Cause I used to move you in a way
that you've never known
But then I accused you in a way that
you've never known
But you've hurt me in a way that I've
never known...

Break me shake me hate me
take me over
When the madness stops then you
will be alone
So won't you break me shake me
hate me take me over
When the madness stops then you
will be alone

Listen, baby
You'll be, you'll be alone

Break me shake me hate me take
me make me
Fake me break me shake me hate
me take me
Break me

Lyric Song : Tears Of Pearls Savage Garden

And we stare each other down
like victims in the grind
Probing all the weakness and
hurt still left behind and we cry
The tears of pearls
We do it. Oh we do it.

Is love really the tragedy the way you
might describe?
Or would a thousand lovers
still leave you cold inside?
Make you cry...
These tears of pearls

All these mixed emotions
we keep locked away like stolen pearls
Stolen pearl devotions we
keep locked away from all the world

Your kisses are like pearls,
so different and so rare
But anger stole the jewels away
and love has left you bare,
Made you cry...
These tears of pearls

Well I could be the tired joker
pour my heart to get you in
Sacrifice my happiness just so I could win
Maybe cry...
These tears of pearls

All these mixed emotions
we keep locked away like stolen pearls
Stolen pearl devotions we
keep locked away from all the world

We twist and turn where angels burn
Like fallen soldiers we will learn
Once forgotten, twice removed
Love will be the death...
The death of you

All these mixed emotions
we keep locked away like stolen pearls
Stolen pearl devotions we
keep locked away from all the world

Lyric Song : Two Beds And A Coffee Machine Savage Garden

And she takes another step
Slowly she opens the door
Check that he is sleeping
Pick up all the broken glass
And furniture on the floor
Been up half the night screaming
Now it's time to get away
Pack up the kids in the car
Another bruise to try and hide
Another alibi to write

Another ditch in the road You keep moving
Another stop sign
You keep moving on
And the years go by so fast
Wonder how I ever made it through

And there are children to think of
Baby's asleep in the back seat
Wonder how they'll ever make it
Through this living nightmare
But the mind is an amazing thing
Full of candy dreams and new toys
And another cheap hotel
Two beds and a coffee machine
But there are groceries to buy
And she knows she'll have to go home

Another ditch in the road
You keep moving
Another stop sign
You keep moving on
And the years go by so fast
Wonder how I ever made it through

Another bruise to try and hide
You keep moving
Another stop sign
You keep moving on
And the years go by so fast
Silent fortress built to last
Wonder how I ever made it

Lyric Song : Promises Savage Garden

Well don't you know I need a
little indulgence?
Listen to the hunter becoming
hunted
Everyday there's a million advances
Don't be too forceful you'll ruin
your chances
Well don't you know that time is a
broken glass
That splinters against the wall?
But the picture is coming back
now baby
And I want to take it all

Don't go making all these promises
you know you cannot keep
There's a time to play a king and a
time to be a thief
'Cause if you're making all these
promises you know you cannot keep
You know time will be the thief and
your fallen king end up alone

So let your body move a little bit closer
Silent like the sound proceeding a cyclone
Don't you know that powerful thinking
Can be a force you don't want
to relinquish?
Well don't you know that
They say hanging on will justify the wait?
But patience and elated wisdom
don't share a common phrase

Don't go making all these promises
you know you cannot keep
There's a time to play a king and a
time to be a thief
'Cause if you're making all these
promises you know you cannot keep
You know time will be the thief and
your fallen king end up alone

Well I'm only hanging on for what
goes down
I'm floating high and my feet don't
touch the ground
I'd take advantage but I can't see
through this charade
So don't you, don't go make it harder
that hell
'Cause it comes down to the making
You'd better be damned sure you can
take it
Hey baby

Don't go making all these promises
you know you cannot keep
There's a time to play a king and a
time to be a thief
'Cause if you're making all these
promises you know you cannot keep
You know time will be the thief and
your fallen king end up alone

Time will be the thief
and your fallen king will end up...
A fool, a fool, a lonely sorry fool
Oh baby, 'cause I told you baby

Savage Garden - Gunning Down Romance

Love and other moments are just chemical reactions in your brain
In your brain
And feelings of aggression are the absence of the love drug in your veins
In your veins
Love come quickly
'Cause I feel my self-esteem is caving in
It's on the brink
Love come quickly
'Cause I don't think I can keep this monster in
It's in my skin
Love and other socially acceptable emotions are morphine
They're morphine
Cleverly concealing primal urges often felt but rarely seen
Rarely seen
Love I beg you
Lift me up into that privileged point of view
The world of two
Love don't leave me
'Cause I console myself that Hallmark cards are true
I really do
I'm gunning down romance
It never did a thing for me
But heartache and misery
Ain't nothing but a tragedy
I'm gunning down romance
It never did a thing for me
But heartache and misery
Ain't nothing but a tragedy
Love don't leave me
Take these broken wings
I'm gonna take these broken wings
And learn to fly
And learn to fly away
I'm gunning down romance
Broken wings
I'm gunning down romance
Broken wings
And learn to fly away
And learn to fly away
I'm gunning down romance
I'm gunning down romance
I'm gunning down romance
I'm gunning down romance

Savage Garden Karaoke (i knew i loved you)

Maybe it's intuition
But some things you just don't question
Like in your eyes
I see my future in an instant
And there it goes
I think I've found my best friend
I know that it might sound more than a little crazy
But I believe
I knew I loved you before I met you
I think I dreamed you into life
I knew I loved you before I met you
I have been waiting all my life
There's just no rhyme or reason
Only this sense of completion
And in your eyes
I see the missing pieces
I'm searching for
I think I've found my way home
I know that it might sound more than a little crazy
But I believe
I knew I loved you before I met you
I think I dreamed you into life
I knew I loved you before I met you
I have been waiting all my life
(add the whos here)
A thousand angels dance around you
I am complete now that I've found you
(and the whos here)
I knew I loved you before I met you
I think I dreamed you into life
I knew I loved you before I met you
I have been waiting all my life
(and the whos here)
